The 57th Presidential Inauguration will take place on Monday, January 21, 2013.  Congressman Tom Latham’s office has been given a limited supply of tickets to the event that will be made available to Iowans, as in previous years, via a lottery.

Qualified entrants into this online form will enter you into the lottery that will be held on Monday, December 17, 2012.

Only ONE (1) application per household will be accepted until midnight, December 16, 2012, and a maximum of TWO (2) tickets will be allocated to each applicant drawn.

In order to be eligible, you must be an Iowa resident.
Residents of the newly drawn 3rd Congressional District — Guthrie, Dallas, Polk, Pottawattamie, Cass, Adair, Madison, Warren, Mills, Montgomery, Adams, Union, Fremont, Page, Taylor, and Ringgold Counties — will be given preferential access.  Should additional tickets remain after all requests for Iowans who live within the new 3rd Congressional District are fulfilled, a lottery drawing will be held for Iowans who live outside the new 3rd Congressional District to allocate the remaining tickets.

Those individuals who are eligible for tickets and whose names are drawn in the lottery will be notified on or after December 17th via email and possibly the telephone number provided.

Tickets cannot be mailed.  Tickets will be distributed to those notified and confirmed ticket recipients at Congressman Latham’s Washington, D.C. office (2217 Rayburn House Office Building) on Sunday, January 20, 2013, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.  Tickets can only be picked up by the actual individuals who requested and will be using them.  Those individuals picking up tickets must produce photo documentation — such as a driver’s license — as proof of both ID and residency upon time of pick-up.  Again, please note that tickets cannot be mailed, e-mailed or delivered.

In the past, gates for the ceremony have opened around 9:00 a.m. on Inauguration Day, and a musical prelude began at 10:30 a.m.  For 2013, the exact gate opening time will be announced in January. Due to large crowds, attendees are encouraged to arrive early to ensure they will be seated by the time the ceremony begins at 11:30 a.m.

All guests will be required to go through vigorous security screening.  A list of prohibited items will be made available in January.

Also, please be aware that this event is historically cold and wet.  The crowds will be very large and guests will likely be outside in the cold for at least three hours.
