Washington, DC - Iowa Congressman Tom Latham voted to pass H.R. 4015, the SGR Repeal and Medicare Provider Payment Modernization Act of 2014. “This bi-partisan solution prevents a 24% cut in Medicare payments to physicians and rewards doctors based on good performance” said Congressman Latham.
“For too long, our nation’s seniors have been forced into a position where doctor’s uncertainty has caused them to stop seeing those who use Medicare. In rural states like Iowa this involves a majority of patients, and our seniors have been paying into this system their whole lives just to be denied service and it is wrong.”
“I have always favored a permanent solution that repeals or replaces the flawed SGR formula. As a co-sponsor, I urge those in the Senate to pass this legislation so our physicians can regain a sense of stability and predictability regarding their participation in the Medicare program and Iowans have confidence that they can use the services they deserve.”
